Speaking French and skiing with the locals in undiscovered Savoie Mont Blanc

Valloire hasn’t entirely remained true to its image of commercial wholesomeness. It shares its skiing with the village of Valmeinier, a modern ski-in, ski-out complex (which has thankfully not gone down the concrete jungle road and has architecture respecting the Savoyard style) – and as is the way of marketing and branding these days, the combined area has now been called Galibier-Thabor. I prefer to think I was in Valloire and skiing over to Valmeinier.
